The Battle Before Alamein
A play for broadcasting by Arthur Swinson
Shortly before the Battle of Alamein in 1942 the Public Health Officer of Port Said reports an outbreak of pneumonic plague to the Naval Medical Officer of the Port Area. The Eighth Army is grouped in the desert 150 miles away. The play -based on a true Incident-tells the story of the measures taken to remove a danger which could have decimated General Montgomery's forces.
