Sunday Night Clive

on BBC One London

The list of celebrities who have pitched themselves alongside the wry humour and biting wit of Clive James has been as impressive as ever: Joan Collins , Tony Curtis , Victoria Wood and tonight, in the last of the current series, Peter Cook.
But one of the strangest moments in the series was with singer Engelbert Humperdinck who, when challenged to demonstrate his macho prowess, ripped a pack of playing cards in half. And one of the most amusing was with Tom Hanks , yet to win his Oscar for best actor in Philadelphia, who described the night he spent in the White House. He and his wife hung a sign on their door which read: " you hear rockin', don't bother knockin'."
