Match of the Day Live: Newcastle United v Liverpool

on BBC One London

Introduced by Jimmy Hill
The first live Match of the Day of 1987 features two of the season's most talked-about teams.
Liverpool paid Newcastle £1.9 million for PETER BEARDSLEY - Anfield's replacement for Ian Rush, now exiled in Italy. Newcastle entered into a sensational £1.25 million package-deal to bring MIRANDINHA (full name Francisco Ernandi Lima Da Silva) from Palmerias, of Sao Paulo, to Tyneside as the first Brazilian to play here in 100 years of League football. Newcastle's new boy Mirandinha against Newcastle's old boy Beardsley at a packed St James' Park promises a fascinating contest within a contest as two of England's biggest clubs duel to put three points in the bank.
