On Saturday 20 May in Tiananmen Square, Peking, thousands of students, teachers and workers were massacred by the Chinese People's Liberation Army. Yet only days before, the square had been the scene of exuberant and peaceful mass demonstrations.
This week, in a specially extended 50-minute programme, there is an opportunity for deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers to catch up with the background and repercussions of these events, and to see a first-hand account from the BBC's
Kate Adie of her experiences during the crisis.
