During their successful tour of the West Indies last winter, the Indian side emerged as a major cricketing force. Opening batsman Gavaskar, who had a test match average of 154 in the West Indies, could become a familiar name this summer, and the variety and class of their spin bowling may well give the English batsmen a hard test.
