Private Passions

on BBC Radio 3

Michael Berkeley's guest today is astrophysicist and Astronomer Royal Sir Martin Rees, who heads the Institute of Astronomy at Cambridge University. He has just published Our Final Century, in which he concludes that the human race has only a 50 per cent chance of surviving the 21st century. His musical choices, however, are far from gloomy: they include Haydn's Creation, Mahler's Symphony No 2 and Janacek's Glagolitic Mass.
