Leader, Louis Levitus

Hilda Searle can claim to be a pioneer broadcaster, for she took part in the first B.B.C. programme in 1922. Her voice combines lyric, operatic, and coloratura qualities with equal success, and as her training has been musical as well as vocal she has on several occasions been able to take over principal roles in unfamiliar works at short notice. She has appeared at the Old Vic, playing leading parts in many of the best known operas.
