(Leader. J. Mouland Begbie )
Conducted by Berthold Goldschmidt
Denis Aplvor's Concerto (1954) was written for Julian Bream. It has three movements: Allegramente con agilita, Serenade, and Alia danza. In the first and last of these, the two percussion players are directed to take the bongos and conga drum respectively, as these best exemplify very high- and low-pitched tomtoms played with the hands.
