Law Women: The Detective

on BBC One London

First of three documentaries profiling women law enforcers who live their lives at the cutting edge of crime.

Tonight's programme features Detective Inspector Susan Hill, a mother of two who has just returned from maternity leave to head serious crime investigations for
Hounslow CID in Middlesex. Although there are more than 300 detective inspectors in the Metropolitan Police Service, only ten of them are women. But at Hounslow Police Station, DI Hill has made her mark.

Now at the top in a traditionally male world, she is on call 24 hours a day running a team of 30, mainly male, officers. Her latest case involves an Asian woman who claims she has been raped by her best friend's husband. But first Hill must assess whether there is enough evidence to arrest the suspect.
