Last summer, a film of Romeo and Juliet (an Anglo-Italian enterprise) was made in and around the play's original settings - in Verona, Siena, and Venice Alan Arnold, who witnessed the making of the film. gives his impressions of the strange atmosphere created by the descent of a large film unit on these Italian towns, and of some of the remarkable reconstructions that were made for the film's scenery.
