An all-Russian line-up, with excerpts from Tchaikovsky's The Snow Maiden, followed by Shostakovich's Violin Concerto No 1 played by the 20-year-old Armenian virtuoso Sergey Khachatryan. The concert concludes with Prokofiev's wartime Symphony No 5, written in support of the greatness of the human spirit.
