The Radio 3 Lunchtime Concert

on BBC Radio 3

York Early Music Festival
In the first of four concerts given last month at the festival, the ensemble
Piffaro celebrate a typical late 15th-century Florentine carnival. They play a sequence of music for all manner of wind instruments, which bands might have played to accompany the colourful street processions at the time of the great patron Lorenzo de' Medici. Among his most loyal servants was the composer Heinrich Isaac , whose music is included in the concert.
