The Lowdown: Today I am a Man

on BBC One London

Last in the series of real life stories about children today, told by children themselves.
For 13-year-old Jewish boys the barmitzvah ceremony is a turning point. The
Lowdown follows Londoner Benjamin [text removed] as he prepares for this special occasion. Benjamin decided to 'twin' his barmitzvah with a Jewish boy in Moscow,
Alexei [text removed]. Like millions of Soviet Jews, Alexei and his family have not been able to practise their religion because of repression.
Although they have never met, the boys are drawn together spiritually at a time they will never forget.
