Introductory talk by MICHAEL SWANN , F.R.S. of the University of Edinburgh on a recent theory about the regulation of population size which may explain the origin of social systems.
The author of the theory is the Professor of Natural History in the University of Aberdeen, V. C. Wynne-Edwards, and it is set out in his book Animal Dispersion in Relation to Social Behaviour.
