Somewhere in the Midlands is a little ' township ' which has only two streets, no cinema, and no railway station-but a war effort so vast that for security reasons even its county cannot be named. This programme tells the story of its invasion by thousands ot filling-factory girls from all over the country-Airmen from the U.S.A., women of the W.R.N.S., W.A.A.F., and A.T.S. and R.A.F. bomber crews. The commentator is the well-known American , film-star, Burgess Meredith , now serving in the United States Air Transport Command.
