Holiday

on BBC One London

Introduced by Cliff Mlchelmore
The stately homes of Ireland are, in fact, ones that welcome visitors and aim to provide accommodation and meals of a consistently high standard. To sample the value of what these members of The Irish Country Houses and Restaurants Association offer, John Carter went to the Irish Republic and reports from Cork and Kerry.
Just what goes on in and around those package holiday hotels used by the younger generation of holiday-makers - those with the laid-back lifestyles? If you've ever wanted to know, all (or nearly all) will be revealed in this film report by Anne Gregg from the resort of Palma Nova in Majorca. Club 25, as the title implies, is aimed at holiday-makers up to and around that age who want a wide range of sporting and social activities built into their holiday.
For the third of her reports on Great British Weekends, Sarah Kennedy travels to Tenterden in Kent, where, among other things, she discovers the delights of an old-fashioned steam railway.
In the studio, the latest news and information from the travel front.
