Composers of the Week: Louis and Francois Couperin

on BBC Radio 3

With Paul Guinery.
2: Theatre and Dance. Characters from the commedia dell'arte and a tragic masquerade are the subjects behind Francois Couperin's L 'Arlequine, La Pantomime and Les Folies Francoises, while the lighter sound world of dance music is ever present in his Concerts Royaux and the harpsichord works of his uncle Louis. Performers include harpsichordists Christophe Rousset, Blandine Verlet and Davitt Moroney, and Trio Sonnerie.
