The Scout Who Smuggled Heroin
Hisayoshi Maruyama was the world's most successful heroin courier, smuggling
£10 million worth of the drug into Britain alone. Travelling as a Japanese boy scout, he was never stopped by customs. He is now in jail in Holland where Peter Taylor interviewed him and traced his trail back to Pakistan.
There Panorama found that his organisation had now become one of the biggest drug rings in the country, smuggling worldwide heroin worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Despite Pakistan's action against heroin the man behind the organisation flourishes largely untouched. Producer DAVID WICKHAM Editor DAVID DICKINSON
