Le roi malgré lui

Chabrier's opera so fired the enthusiasm of Maurice Ravel that he said: "I would rather have written Le roi malgré lui than The Ring." This performance is broadcast live from the Grand Theatre, Leeds, the first British staging by Opera North. Jeremy Sams and Michael Wilcox have provided a new English version for this production, which Jeremy Sams has also directed.
