View in Radio Times

Speech by Sir EDWARD T. CAMPBELL , M.P.,
Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Postmaster General, at the formal opening of Telephone
House, Edinburgh
(From Edinburgh)
The opening of Telephone House, Edinburgh, very appropriately falls within Telephone Week. In this building the sales, accounts, and traffic departments have been brought together. The East of Scotland district, of which Telephone House is the Head Office, extends from Newcastleton in the South to Blair Atholl in the North, and embraces in whole or in part eleven counties. Telephone House is responsible for 231 exchanges, 1,110 call offices, 41,000 exchange lines, 63,000 stations, 40,000 quarterly accounts, and tickets totalling over 10 millions.
