In tribute to Sir Rex Harrison who died earlier this month BBC tv screens his superb Oscar-winning performance as Professor Henry Higgins in Lerner and Loewe's enchanting musical version of Shaw's play Pygmalion. Henry Higgins, famous professor of phonetics, boasts to his friend Pickering that he could teach a Cockney flower girl to speak like a Duchess. The next morning Eliza Doolittle arrives on his doorstep, demanding to be taught.

Marni Nixon sings the role of Eliza.
