A short story by Lord Dunsany read by Kevin Fitzgerald
(First broadcast in the National programme on February 13)
This is the fourth and one of the best of ' The Travel Tales of Mr. Joseph Jorkens ' — that delightful person who would always tell a tale for a drink. Did Mr. Jorkens, walking westward up the Strand on a warm summer's day, with a thirst and no money with which to quench it, invent the whole thing ? Anyhow, he swung the charm at the end of his watch-chain for everyone to see, much as an angler spins something bright in the water to catch a fish. The fish Mr. Jorkens caught was, of course, Lord Dunsany-and listeners should be grateful that he did.
